Too many women farmers cannot reliably feed their families. Opportunity equips women with skills, access to finance, and resilient farming techniques to support them to grow more food and income. This Christmas, we can help families eat more healthy, regular meals and build lasting food security.

Women make up 43% of the agricultural workforce in sub-Saharan Africa, producing much of the food yet often facing food insecurity. With limited access to finance, training and land, they face low yields and unstable incomes. Small shocks - poor harvests, illness, rising costs - can quickly lead to hunger. Women must choose food, healthcare, or their children’s education. Without support to increase productivity and resilience, families remain trapped in a cycle of food insecurity and poverty.
Opportunity supports farmers like Salama to grow more food and income. We strengthen savings groups, provide financial literacy and unlock access to affordable loans so women can invest in their farms. Alongside this, we deliver practical training in resilient agriculture and business skills. Women increase yields, diversify income and build savings. With stronger farms and financial buffers, families can eat consistently and withstand shocks without falling into crisis.
