Twenty four years since the end of the Civil War, eleven years since the wide spread Ebola outbreak and three years since COVID19 pandemic, Sierra Leone finds itself ranked 184 out of 193 countries on the Human Development Index with 60% of the population living in poverty. Many women live in precarious and vulnerable situations, facing the greatest levels of poverty and unemployment. Women often have to choose between feeding their families, children accessing education and seeking healthcare.

Reseed gives low interest business loans and business skills mentoring and training to women living in poverty. Our innovative scheme provides support at different levels (£75-£200) depending on an individual's needs and current business activities. We also give group loans which removes barriers for the most vulnerable in the community to access finance and establishes a support system within the project. A stable and reliable income raises the standard of living for women living in poverty.
