Funding for our Children and Young people services within The Haven, Wolverhampton. The main provider for Domestic Abuse services in the city. This appeal centres on our belief that children should be free to play, heal and simply be children.

According to Women’s Aid, in 40-70% of cases where a mother has been abused, the child has also suffered direct abuse. This can seriously impact a child or young person’s mental and physical wellbeing, as well as their behaviour, which can last into adulthood. Children should be allowed to be children; protected and free from harm, without having to worry about the risk to their lives. Yet far too often they come to us withdrawn and aggressive struggling with school and suffering nightmares.

At the Haven we have multiple refuge sites plus dispersed properties. We also support families in their own homes. Our Children and Young People team travel across sites to deliver age appropriate, trauma informed sessions with young people. These may be one-to-ones or group sessions focusing on well being, building trust and their self-worth. Donations also enable the team to provide enriching trips out to softplays, zoos, sports centres or even to the beach; making memories and finding joy.
