Refugees travel thousands of miles to seek safety. But too often, their arrival in the UK is not the end of their struggle. You can help give refugees a welcome they can walk to: a local church that will provide friendship and support. Your gift today can say to a refugee: you’re welcome here.

Refugees can travel up to 5,000 miles to seek safety here, fleeing war, persecution or crisis. But tragically, when they arrive, their struggle isn’t over. Across the UK, refugees are traumatised, in poor housing, and unable to navigate an unfamiliar system. What’s more, there’s no local church nearby to help. Our mapping of churches in the Welcome Network has exposed urgent gaps in high-need areas, such as North England and South Wales. These gaps leave too many refugees unsupported and alone.

At Welcome Churches, we’ve mapped our network and we know where the gaps are. Now, your kindness can put a welcome within walking distance for thousands of refugees – with our Walk to Welcome project. Your gift will help recruit and equip churches in areas where there are high numbers of refugees and too few Welcome Churches. Through free training, resourcing and ongoing support, you’ll enable church communities to provide refugees with warm friendship, practical help and a place to belong.
