We need your help this Christmas to ensure that young carers and young people impacted by familial substance use receive the vital support. All of the funds raised from our campaign will enable young people that SYC work with to continue accessing one-to-ones, group sessions and holiday activities.

A young carer is a child or young person who is taking on a substantial amount of unpaid care for a loved one. It's estimated that there could be 2-3 young carers in every classroom! Young carers cook, clean, administer medication and look after their siblings; or maybe even all of these. The responsibilities that young carers have can have impact them, through no fault of their own, socially, physically, mentally and academically in comparison to their non-caring peers.

We provide tailored support for young people, working with them to co-produce a support programme that will benefit them most. Our support includes one-to-one's, a term of groups and the opportunity to attend fun school holiday activities. Our support covers key topics that young people will benefit from including managing emotions, confidence building, healthy eating and understanding illnesses and drugs/alcohol. Our support also ensures that these young people get the respite they deserve.
