Roughly half of OOMOO members reside within the top 1% of deprived areas in England, whilst the other half reside in the top 20%. This provides specific challenges for our members during school holidays, such as a higher risk of being involved in anti-social behaviour or experiencing poor mental health and isolation. Children in care are also statistically four times more likely to experience mental health difficulties than their peers, often due to a higher instance of early childhood trauma.
OOMOO delivers consistent, personal and trauma-informed support tailored to CEYP. The summer programme provides 5-6 weeks of enriching activities for our members that are carefully designed to build life skills, improve mental health and wellbeing, build positive memories with peers and reduce unsupervised time in the community. This holiday provision is completely free, enabling members to embrace new experiences and create 'glimmers of joy', that are proven to promote trauma healing.
