In Richmond upon Thames, we know many older residents face loneliness, declining confidence and barriers to staying active and living independently. Factors such as bereavement, poor mobility, financial pressure and digital exclusion can leave people isolated, disconnected and at risk of deteriorating health. Without the right support, these challenges reduce independence, limit community participation, impact wellbeing and quality of life, and place a greater strain on the NHS and social care.
Age UK Richmond supports over 4,000 older residents each year. We provide practical, emotional and social support to help people stay active and independent. Through social activities and befriending we reduce loneliness, while benefits advice eases financial hardship and digital training improves access to services. Home help and hospital discharge support enable safe, independent living, improving wellbeing, confidence and quality of life.
