In England, over 1.7 million pupils (20%) have identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with numbers rising each year. The Department for Education highlights that early intervention is key to preventing needs escalating and that “getting it right in the early years is essential to supporting children’s development, health and life chances.” Without timely support, developmental gaps widen, placing greater pressure on families, schools and wider support services.
Support will protect our essential provision and our key asset - our staff, allowing us to continue delivering early interventions where it has the greatest impact. The funding will cover the average annual salary (term time) of 2 Early Years Practitioners enabling us to respond flexibly to demand, support families earlier, and contribute to improved outcomes for children with SEND and their families ensuring early support remains available, inclusive and responsive across our communities.
