Recent policy changes threaten to reopen the live export of wild African elephants to zoos. Your matched donation will enable our legal experts to challenge these shifts at CITES, while on-ground conservation teams help keep elephant families together and safe in their natural wild habitats.

International policy changes risk reopening the live export of wild African elephants to zoos and private homes outside Africa. These shifts could see families torn apart and sent to inhospitable conditions. At the same time politicians debate this unethical trade, we are fighting for elephant survival and to rescue and re-wild orphan elephants torn from their families by poachers. Whilst both cases tear elephant families apart, we have the power to influence both for good.
We will leverage over 20 years of legal expertise at the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora to fight harmful policy shifts, including the live export trade that saw Namibia ship wild elephants to zoos in UAE. In Zambia, we will support rescue and long-term rehabilitation to release orphaned calves. We will also work with communities to reduce conflict, prevent poaching, and stop orphanhood at the source.
