Escaping 'honour'-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices can come at the cost of family, community, and identity. Our wellbeing and empowerment programmes help survivors overcome isolation, rebuild confidence, forge friendships, and embrace their savera - meaning a new beginning.

Honour'-based abuse disproportionately affects women and girls and is often perpetrated by entire families or communities, not just one person. It can begin from a young age through child/forced marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM) and controlling behaviour. To escape, survivors often leave behind everyone & everything they know. Isolated and denied opportunities to develop independence, many face profound mental health challenges and the risk of being drawn back into abusive environments.

We invest in the empowerment and well-being of the women and girls who enter our service. Our programmes/activities offer not only a safe space, but guidance and support to build self-confidence, access education and employment, and learn about themselves and their journey beyond HBA. We run courses that develop skills and confidence, alongside activities that break isolation and foster connection and well-being, helping survivors build a new, independent life.
