One in four women in England and Wales will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime, and on average one woman is killed by an abusive partner or ex every five days. Yet too often domestic abuse goes unrecognised until it is too late, and public awareness remains far too low. Research has found that less obvious forms of abusive behaviour, such as coercive control, are much less well recognised.

We want to create a network of WI No More Violence Ambassadors across our grassroots community of 5,000 WIs, providing training and educational materials. They will educate others about domestic abuse, raising awareness in their own communities and helping others learn how to support friends and family who may be experiencing abuse. We will bring women together to visibly and vocally protest the continued crisis of violence against women, and demand change from decisionmakers at all levels.
