More than one in five people in the UK live in poverty, including 4.5 million children. During the coldest months, rising energy costs can push many households deeper into hardship. An estimated 7.5 million people say they would have to skip meals if bills increased by just £20. Families are forced to make impossible choices between heating, food and other essentials, increasing the risk of ill health, debt and long-term financial insecurity.

Turn2us tackles poverty by providing cash grants through partner organisations, offering trusted information and tools, and campaigning for fairer systems. In 2025–26 we delivered £2.65m in grants to 1,146 people, alongside 2.5 million Benefits Calculator uses and nearly 1 million Grants Search visits helping people access non-repayable support and vital financial breathing space. Our PIP Helper, co-created with users, has supported over 470,000 visitors to navigate disability benefits.
