Our pantry is more than just a place to buy affordable food - it’s a space where local people can meet, connect and find support for life’s challenges. We need to raise money so we can continue our weekly pantry which currently supports ninety local families with affordable food and extra support.

The cost-of-living crisis has put many residents under financial pressure, having to make impossible decisions on whether to pay the bills or buy food. Many families simply unable make ends meet or shop in the supermarkets. This can lead to feelings of social isolation, despair and longer term physical and mental health conditions. There is a stigma connected to accepting free foods and handouts, which prevents some households from seeking help and they carry on without support.
We provide a member-led affordable food club as well as a welcoming space where residents can get support for many of life’s challenges, meet neighbours and make friends. Our weekly food pantry has a dedicated support staff member who helps with advocacy, and we also provide English classes, social opportunities, and activities for the whole family. When someone visits our food pantry they aren’t just eating more healthily and cheaply; they are becoming part of the West Silvertown family.
