Maternity services are in crisis. There is a severe shortage of midwives and health visitors, and an ever-growing demand for maternal care. Women need compassionate support, trusted information and empowerment through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Yet many don't receive the infant feeding support they need: 73% of mothers experience breastfeeding difficulties, 72% who stop breastfeeding would have liked to continue, and only 68% feel they receive enough support with feeding in hospital.
We will: Provide frontline infant feeding support through our helpline, accredited digital information, community services and peer support programmes. Educate and empower women with reliable, evidence-based, parent-centred information and support. Campaign with women, volunteers and partner organisations for improved infant feeding services, and investment and infrastructure in the UK. Co-produce local services with women from disadvantaged and marginalised communities, centring lived experience.
