Smart Works Reading supports women facing barriers to employment, including low confidence, financial hardship and limited access to professional support. Our service helps women secure work, improving financial stability and creating lasting positive change. 41% of our clients are from ethnic minority backgrounds, 30% are lone parents and 18% are disabled. Client numbers have increased by 50% since 2023, demonstrating the growing demand for our support and the urgent need for our service.

Smart Works Reading provides one-to-one career coaching, interview skills training, CV guidance and professional clothing to help women build confidence and succeed at interview. We work with referral partners including Jobcentres, charities and community organisations to reach women in need. 67% of the clients we support before an interview go on to secure a job. Clients who secure employment are invited back to receive a capsule work wardrobe, helping them start their new role with confidence.
