Fine Cell Work helps people in prison rebuild their lives through the provision of high-quality needlework programmes. By providing purposeful activity, we address some of the most pressing challenges within the prison system—mental ill-health, lack of opportunity, and high rates of reoffending.

Prisons in the UK face significant and growing challenges: • Many prisoners experience poor mental health, isolation, and low self-worth • A lack of meaningful activity contributes to boredom, frustration, and disengagement • Nearly half of people released from prison reoffend within a year, perpetuating cycles of crime Without intervention, time spent in prison often deepens, rather than breaks, these cycles. There is a clear and urgent need for programmes that give people purpose and skills.

We deliver purposeful, paid activity to people in prison through needlework programmes. Creative activity and the arts reduce reoffending because they change how people think, feel, and behave in ways that traditional prison programmes often can’t reach. We deliver a proven model of rehabilitation through high-quality needlework classes delivered in prison by committed volunteers. Prisoners produce beautiful, hand-stitched products, gaining both financial independence and a sense of pride.
