A criminal record remains a major collateral consequence of the justice system, creating ongoing barriers to stable employment. Evidence reinforces this: Dr Guillem Rovira’s 2023 experiment found applicants who disclosed a record received fewer callbacks. Similarly, a 2025 Reed in Partnership survey of 1,000 employers reported that one in five would automatically reject candidates with convictions, while willingness to hire those with minor offences has declined since 2013.
We shall provide: Clear, accessible information on a range of subjects including the ROA, DBS checks, criminal record disclosure, rights at work and the impact of a criminal record when applying to college/university, housing, buying insurance or travelling abroad. Tailored advice at key transition points (pre-application, disclosure, progression). Ongoing, relational support to help people navigate challenges before they arise, rather than waiting until situations escalate.
