Sub-Saharan Africa faces a severe childhood nutrition crisis driven by a triple burden: widespread stunting, acute wasting, and rising obesity. Fuelled by climate shocks, conflict, and poverty, millions of children lack vital micronutrients. This hidden hunger permanently impairs brain development and compromises immune systems. Beyond the tragic health toll, it cripples future human capital and locks families into generational cycles of poverty.

With over 50 years experience, Self Help Africa works with local communities to promote nutritious foods like sorghum, millet, orange flesh sweet potato, avocado. From maternal nutrition, breastfeeding, early years and youth nutrition guidance, alongside investment in diverse nutritious crops, SHA works in partnership to deliver change. Food and water security are critical for rural households and healthy childhood development. We ensure households have dietary diversity, in a changing climate.
