At FareShare North East we take good-to-eat surplus food from the food industry and divert it to over 235 charities and community groups in the region, reaching thousands of people each week. By making good use of the food, we save it from being thrown away and help to combat climate change.

Impact areas
1) Food poverty/ insecurity and health inequalities in the North East region, with a focus on areas with high IMD ratings, through redistribution of good to eat food including high volumes of fresh produce. 2) Environmental waste - saving good-to-eat surplus food from going to landfill and reducing carbon/ greenhouse emissions.
Through the redistribution of food from our two warehouses in Newcastle and Middlesbrough. We will deliver food to over 235 community groups and organisations every week throughout the region who provide support for individuals and families within their community. These groups often provide additional support beyond food provision, creating community space, reducing social isolation and signposting to other services. Rescuing the food from going to landfill will reduce greenhouse omissions.
