AT The Bus uses the power of art to support children’s wellbeing and engagement at school. We work with children and young people aged five to 16 in primary, secondary and special schools. We also provide wellbeing support and training in using art therapeutically to families and school staff.

There is a well-documented crisis in children’s mental health, exacerbated over recent years by the covid pandemic and the cost of living crisis. One in five children have poor mental health and nearly 20 per cent are persistently absent from school. The number of children with Special Educational Needs is growing rapidly. In deprived areas of the country, children and young people are facing multiple layers of disadvantage. Schools are struggling to provide adequate support.

Our vision is to improve the wellbeing of every child and young person so that they can thrive at school and beyond. We will deliver weekly school-based therapeutic arts sessions for children aged five to 16 across Oxfordshire and London. These sessions provide respite, care and powerful opportunities for children with complex needs to be creative, improve engagement with their education and build self-esteem, resilience and social skills within their school setting.
