Exacerbated by AI & social media, girls face rising pressure from comparison culture, beauty marketing, harmful content from influencers. These things damage confidence, wellbeing, mental/physical health and identity. The Confident In My Own Skin project helps girls build resilience and self worth.

Girls face rising pressures from comparison culture caused through factors like AI & social media, beauty marketing, harmful content from influencers. Many under 10's regularly use anti-aging products that were designed for mature skin. Poor body image is linked to anxiety, self harm, disordered eating, and withdrawal from sport, leadership, and community life. Disabled girls, neurodivergent girls, and those from minority communities experience even greater scrutiny.
Girls’ Brigade will create and deliver the Confident in My Own Skin programme to 5500 girls (under 18's) to understand body image pressures, challenge comparison culture, and build confidence over the next 18 months. Through sessions on identity, digital wellbeing, and peer support — with tailored content for disabled, neurodivergent, and minority ethnic girls — we equip them to grow up resilient, confident, and at home in their own skin.
