We will remove physical and sensory barriers so children and young people can experience a multi-sensory, accessible pantomime created for children’s hospices, special schools and the SEND community across London, South and South East England, with filmed access UK-wide.

Twelve percent of UK children have a disability and, for many, attending a traditional theatre can be a daunting experience fraught with barriers. With just one percent of UK performances being inclusive, children with disabilities are constantly expected to adapt & conform to mainstream services. This can lead to frustration, stress & disengagement. In addition, physical access, travel & cost all pose challenges. Opportunities to perform & get involved backstage are also limited..
We will reach over 6,000 disabled children by providing a stress-free, sensory-friendly pantomime designed for children with special and additional needs, widening access to the arts. Three Special School students will gain job-seeking skills through our work-experience programme. A filmed version (with animated instructions to make the watching experience fully inclusive) on YouTube ensures children unable to attend, due to disability, distance or cost, are not excluded.
