Local bat groups are a vital conservation network across the UK, protecting bats and habitats, engaging communities and generating evidence that informs conservation and policy. We want to strengthen and sustain this network and continue driving nature’s recovery at a critical time for wildlife.

Bats face growing pressures from habitat loss, development and environmental change, while planning and land-use decisions shape nature's future. Protecting bats depends on a strong network of local bat groups that rescue bats, safeguard roosts, monitor populations and generate evidence for policy. Without sustained support, we risk losing local conservation capacity, weakening the evidence base for decision-making, reducing our ability to advocate effectively for nature when it is needed most.
Bat Conservation Trust supports and coordinates more than 80 local bat groups and thousands of volunteers to deliver conservation action across the UK. Funding will strengthen this network through training, guidance, knowledge sharing and practical support, enabling bat groups to continue to rescue bats, protect habitats, engage communities and generate the evidence that informs conservation, planning and policy across the UK, for lasting national impact.
