Every 90 seconds in the UK, a child, young person or adult is reported missing. While missing, people are often vulnerable and at risk of harm. Missing People is the UK's only charity dedicated to ensuring the safety of these children and adults while supporting loved ones waiting for their return.

It is heart-stopping when you discover someone you love is missing. In winter, freezing nights and darker days can increase the risk of harm. Every year, 160,000 children and adults are reported missing in the UK. People who go missing are often among the most vulnerable and may face risks including exploitation, abuse, poor mental health, or homelessness. For families and loved ones, the uncertainty can be overwhelming, leaving them trapped in limbo, sometimes for years, waiting for news.
Every situation is unique and Missing People is there for everyone affected when someone disappears. Our priority is their safety. By reaching out to those who have disappeared and sharing appeals with our growing network of volunteers and supporters, we help people return to safety. Our compassionate advisors also offer confidential advice and support to people who may be leaving unsafe situations. And we stand with families caught in limbo, sometimes for years, waiting for news.
