Learning Space is a charity working in Surrey to support the emotional well-being & mental health of children and young people aged 5-18, many of whom are neurodivergent. We are fundraising to support more young people earlier on with their mental health, helping to avoid crisis situations.

In 2023, one in six children and young people aged 8-25 years had a probable mental disorder (NHS, 20231) and demand for support is rising. Young people referred to us might be experiencing low mood, friendship difficulties or management of emotions and behaviours. Many are neurodiverse and / or have special educational needs and disabilities, whether formally diagnosed or not.

Learning Space aims to support more young people in Surrey with mental health needs earlier on to help prevent the need for higher-intervention, distressing and costly ‘crisis’ support at a later stage. Our growing early intervention work, such as our therapeutic garden group sessions, are aimed at providing gentle, peer-to-peer-based mental health support. Our specialist ‘solution focused’ approach helps each young person build on their strengths to cope better and improve their own wellbeing.
