The West Midlands region has a high mortality rate, with approximately 10,000 deaths in Birmingham alone each year (Birmingham City Council; 2020). Unsupported grief in children can have a significant impact on their development often manifesting in emotional and behavioural changes. This can because the child doesn’t have the vocabulary to process grief. In young people their education can be impacted where they feel they are ‘different’ to their peers and struggle to concentrate.

Edwards Trust is embedded within the West Midlands communities, with decades of experience in delivering high quality, effective bereavement support provision. We will provide holistic person-centred bereavement support for bereaved children and young people with BACP accredited Counsellors. Counselling will be delivered 1-2-1 in person usually upto eight sessions of one hour each, although these can be extended as required. Sessions are currently delivered in Birmingham, Oldbury and Blackheath
