Homelessness in Scotland is on the rise. Last year, the Scottish Government recorded that over 53,000 adults and children found themselves without a safe place to call home. Housing instability, family breakdown, poverty, trauma, health inequalities and substance misuse build up and push people towards crisis. But with the right support, homelessness can be prevented, crisis can be met, and people can be supported to make a home again.
We support over 9,000 people, focusing on three key areas: homelessness prevention, crisis intervention, and housing & support. We work with people at risk of becoming homeless, provide emergency intervention for those without safe accommodation, and offer support for individuals making a fresh start in new tenancies after homelessness. As one person supported by Bethany shares: “When you feel safe - when people care for you and are watching out for you - that’s what it means to have a home”
