Each year, around 1,900 children are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. For a child & their family, diagnosis & treatment affect far more than the child's health. Children lose access to school, friends & everyday routines & experiences. Parents reduce or stop work to manage complex treatment schedules & travel, increasing financial pressure. Siblings & family life are disrupted. Families' practical & emotional needs extend beyond what the NHS can support, leaving many isolated & overwhelmed.
This campaign will fund an integrated package of whole-family support, addressing the practical, emotional and educational challenges faced by children and families affected by cancer. Working alongside local oncology teams, we will provide access to AV1 robots to help children connect remotely with school & peers, family respite through our holiday lodge, childhood cancer support groups, practical hardship & transport support, & targeted improvements to hospital wards & environments.
