Our appeal will raise funds to provide workshops, webinars and resources for parents and carers whose children are waiting for mental health services. We want to give more parents and carers the skills, confidence and connections they need to wait with hope, knowing that they are not alone.

Thousands of families are currently waiting for children and young people’s mental health support, often with little guidance while they wait. Long waiting times can leave parents and carers feeling isolated, overwhelmed and unsure how best to support their child. Although some services now offer waiting-list support, access varies significantly across the country. Families need trusted information, practical tools and emotional support long before they reach crisis point.

‘Together through the wait’ will enable us to offer our resources and expert-led webinars to thousands more parents and carers; these cover a wide range of topics, including neurodiversity and mental health, and supporting a young person with thoughts of suicide. It will also help us reach more people with information about parent carer peer support: often the best people to connect with are those who’ve been through similar experiences.
