Girls Friendly Society (GFS) creates safe spaces where girls can be themselves and be celebrated. Your support will help girls in disadvantaged communities build confidence, form healthy relationships, and explore topics like periods and online safety, boosting wellbeing and helping them thrive.

All girls face pressures that affect confidence, safety and wellbeing. Body image ideals, harassment and online harms are a daily reality. These are often worse in disadvantaged communities. Girls we support may arrive hungry, with low self‑esteem and few safe spaces, increasing risk of grooming and abuse. Many GFS girls rely on weekly groups for safety and stability: they build trusted relationships, make friends and get support, reducing reliance on harmful online or offline relationships.

Through weekly after school groups and school workshops, GFS supports girls to build confidence and skills in safe, supportive spaces shaped by their needs. Staff and volunteers listen and respond, from providing meals and cooking lessons in groups affected by food poverty, to creating empowering spaces for conversations about periods and staying safe online. One group shared: “Our first healthy cooking session was a hit! Pasta Bolognese as requested last week. £8 and it fed 13 people.”
