People who have experienced homelessness face significant health inequalities and poor physical and mental health outcomes. The average age of death of someone experiencing homelessness is around 30 years lower than that of the general population. The people at Emmaus Oxford have been homeless for significant periods in their lives and may struggle with some physical or mental health condition as a result of that experience.

At Emmaus Oxford we provide access to sport and fitness activities such as football, boxing, cycling, swimming, ice skating, fishing and more, alongside counselling and therapy to help improve physical health, support mental wellbeing, reduce social isolation, build confidence, and create positive routines for people who have experienced homelessness. This project complements the housing, support and employment training delivered at Emmaus Oxford and contributes to sustained recovery.
