The Global Botanic Garden Fund is dedicated to advancing plant conservation, with a particular focus on under-resourced botanic gardens in the world’s most biodiverse regions. By providing targeted funding for urgent conservation, it enables action in some of the world’s most vulnerable areas.

With almost 40% of plant species facing extinction, the need for effective conservation action has never been greater. Botanic gardens are uniquely positioned to protect threatened plants, restore ecosystems and engage communities in the protection of these habitats, yet many gardens, particularly smaller gardens located in biodiversity hotspots struggle to secure the funding required to carry out this vital work.

The Global Botanic Garden Fund delivers meaningful, long-term conservation impact by supporting activities such as seed banking and propagation of threatened plant species, native forests and habitat restoration, capacity building for conservation practitioners, and community outreach and education programmes. Through these relatively small grants, gardens can achieve significant and lasting outcomes, strengthening their conservation capacity and securing plant conservation for the future.
