Smart Works Scotland supports women in disadvantaged communities to overcome barriers to employment, including low confidence, financial hardship and limited access to professional support. Our service helps women move into work, breaking cycles of poverty and creating lasting positive change for communities. 42% of our clients are from ethnic minority backgrounds, 27% are lone parents and 18% are disabled. Since 2014, we have supported over 3,000 women, with demand continuing to grow.
Smart Works Scotland helps women overcome barriers to work by providing personalised career coaching, interview preparation, CV support and interview clothing. Women are referred through partners such as Jobcentres, Scottish Women’s Aid and Passion4Fusion, helping us reach those most in need across our communities. Once employed, clients receive a capsule work wardrobe from Smart Works Scotland to support their transition into work. 68% of our clients supported before an interview get the job.
