Orangutans are critically endangered - the driving reason being habitat loss. For 35 years, Orangutan Foundation has protected over 500,000 acres of forest, worked with local communities to secure the future of the species, and cared for orphaned orangutans. Your donation helps continue this work.

Orangutans are critically endangered. In just three decades, an estimated 80% of their tropical forest habitat has been lost to oil palm, logging, mining and human expansion. Orangutans risk human-orangutan conflict, orphaned infants are kept as pets, and surviving wild populations face shrinking, fragmented forests. As a keystone species and vital seed disperser, the orangutan's decline threatens the forest ecosystem — and the communities that depend on it. Our critical work must be ongoing.
Orangutan Foundation takes a holistic approach: actively helping to conserve over 500,000 acres – or 284,000 football pitches - of habitat through patrols and monitoring; reintroducing orangutans into the wild; supporting community livelihoods that reduce pressure on forests; restoring degraded forest; and running research and education programmes. Funds raised will ensure that these 5 critical programmes will continue into the future.
