In the last 150 years, fossil fuel use has wreaked terrifying damage to our planet, pushing temperatures past dangerous thresholds. The result is extreme weather events, threats to food and water security and devastating biodiversity loss. Despite decades of clear scientific evidence of this harm, action has been delayed. People and businesses with vested interests in fossil fuels have influenced politics and the media to protect their profits.

Friends of the Earth is campaigning – locally, nationally and globally – to change the whole system for the better. We want to target the role of businesses in driving environmental harm and undermining environmental policies that protect people and planet. Instead, we need responsible corporate behaviour, in the UK and overseas, and a limit on businesses’ power in politics, so we can safeguard government decision-making on the climate and nature crises.
