Domestic abuse doesn't always end when a survivor leaves. Abusers continue to control survivors' money and belongings long after they have fled, pushing them into poverty and homelessness. SEA is closing down opportunities for abusers. Donate today to help survivors escape economic abuse for good.

Leaving an abuser should mean freedom. But for millions of women, economic abuse continues long after separation. By withholding child support, trapping survivors in a mortgage or dragging out court cases, abusers use financial ties and legal systems to control and devastate lives. Survivors can lose their homes and be pushed into debt, making it harder to achieve safety while living in fear. No one should have to choose between safety and financial survival to escape domestic abuse.

Surviving Economic Abuse has secured a change in law to make post-separation abuse a criminal offence. Now we need to: Empower survivors with online resources and peer support to help them reach the right support. Drive changes in laws and systems to close down opportunities for abusers, like reforming the Child Maintenance Service. Train professionals to recognise post-separation abuse and effectively support survivors. Together, we can help survivors escape economic abuse for good.
