Clean, reliable, electricity is vital to power health services 24/7. Without it, services are severely constrained, placing entire communities at risk. With your help, we will ensure that almost 18,000 people can access improved healthcare around the clock in 17 of rural Nepal’s poorest communities.

In Nepal’s remote areas such as the Surkhet district, access to primary healthcare remains critically limited. The poorest and most marginalised communities lack adequate services: 21% of health facilities have no electricity, 1 in 20 lack water, and 1 in 10 have no toilets. Without reliable electricity, safe water, sanitation, or vital equipment, essential services such as vaccine and medicine refrigeration, safe childbirth, and neonatal and emergency care cannot be delivered.
Our approach integrates solar-powered energy systems, upgraded infrastructure and equipment, community awareness to increase service uptake, and training for health staff and local residents. New energy-enabled systems will be installed in 17 Surkhet health facilities, expanding the range and quality of care with lighting, refrigeration, neonatal services, telemedicine, and solar-powered water filtration, alongside improved water, sanitation, hygiene, and waste management facilities.
