We need to raise £15,000 each year to fund accommodation so families can stay near to their children when having heart surgery at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit. So we can continue to give heart parents a comfortable retreat when they need it most and can stay close to their child when in hospital.

Children's Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) is the only charity which directly supports the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit (LCHU), based at Leeds Children’s Hospital. We are the only charity in our region that supports babies, children, teenagers and adults with congenital heart disease (CHD). LCHU is the only specialist centre for CHD in the region covering Yorkshire, The Humber, N.E Lincolnshire and N. Derbyshire. Many families have to travel to Leeds for treatment and need to stay in hospital.
We provide free accommodation so parents have somewhere comfortable to stay close by when their child is having treatment at LCHU. Last year we provided 2555 nights of parent accommodation to 300 families in CHSF’s rooms on Brotherton Wing and at Eckersley House giving families vital respite, and saving countless hours of extra travel, cost and worry. The average stay is 21 nights and recent survey data confirmed that families would have struggled to cope and support their child without it.
