The children we support are from families affected by Huntington’s disease. There is no cure yet for this terminal neurological disease. Children may have lost loved ones and be scared about their 50% risk of inheriting the disease, which is caused by a faulty gene. Often, they are young carers. Children tell us they have lots of questions about Huntington’s, but nobody to talk to who understands. Huntington’s disease is rare and they may never have met another child who has the same challenges.

Our HDYES summer camp 2027 will run from Monday, 2nd – Thursday, 5th August 2027 at Beaudesert Outdoor Activity Centre, Staffordshire. 40 children aged 8 – 17 will take part. Children will enjoy a range of activities and get a break from their lives as young carers. They will learn more about Huntington’s disease and get specialist support from our team of Youth Workers. Children will be able to relax, have fun, and find friendship with other children who understand what they are going through.
