One of our problems is finding ways to enhance equality and inclusion for our disabled members. Sight Support Worthing has over 700 members registered visually impaired or blind, through congenital, hereditary , aged conditions, accidents and trauma. Our strategy is to support members sight loss journey in a person-centered way. Relearning technology and making it accessible to make life skills (Banking / Shopping / Bill payment / accessing e mails ) achievable through support and access apps.
We have a multi pronged attack, our strategy includes hosting weekly drop in technology sessions for members experiencing immediate issues, and offering home visits for members less mobile. The charities technology team plan to run an accessible open day, showcasing all that's available to support sight loss whilst additionally collaborating with all other sight loss charities to ensure the support is rolled out across the county. Members work with our team to adapt technology to best support.
