Children and young people should be hungry to learn, but 2.1 million children in the UK are at risk of hunger. That’s four pupils in a class of 30. The magic behind breakfast goes beyond food itself. Working with schools in disadvantaged areas, we empower pupils to reach for their dreams and thrive.

When children arrive at school hungry, they struggle to concentrate, regulate their emotions and engage with their learning. This affects their health, wellbeing, and life chances, before the school day has even begun. Our latest survey found 98% of partner schools say the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect learning, with 93% citing hunger as a significant barrier. Schools told us that “for some children, the meals they have at school often are the only nutritious meals they receive.”
We make a difference to over 350,000 children and young people each morning, championing and providing nutritious breakfasts that ensure they have the fuel to learn and thrive. Research shows pupils who regularly eat breakfast achieve, on average, two GCSE grades higher. A school shared, ‘Children come into class ready to learn instead of distracted or upset. It's created a more positive atmosphere for the whole class.’ 95% of schools also report breakfast creates a crucial sense of belonging.
