We have designated a staff member to be our Wellbeing Lead to grow the various courses that we offer schools including Haven (for those who experience anxiety) and Tough Stuff (for those experiencing loss through bereavement and parental separation), as well as expanding our mentoring programme.

Many young people in the schools we work in face problematic anxiety. There is much evidence that the pandemic and social media/phone use could be a contributing factor to exacerbating existing issues and young people developing new diagnoses. Schools are seeing an increase, which can be a struggle to meet the demands, given budget restrictions. Other young people face personal loss, either through bereavement or parental separation, or other challenges typical of their stage of life.
As part of our offering to schools, we deliver Haven courses to give tools to manage anxiety, Tough Stuff to respond to loss, and mentoring to provide valuable one-to-one support from one of our Schools Coordinators or trained volunteers. Our mentoring can be a 6 week programme to help a young person with a particular issue, or using our iMatter Journal which addresses wellbeing tools with Bible passages and ideas.
