Youth unemployment is at its highest level in over a decade, with nearly one million young people currently NEET. Young people defined in government data as “disadvantaged” are 50% more likely to be NEET than their better-off peers, despite having the same abilities and ambition. In communities classed as deprived, young people face challenging barriers such as a lack of accessible labour market opportunities, further compounding their risk of not making a good transition on from school.
FutureMe supports young people at high risk of being out of work or training after school, to beat the odds stacked against them. Starting in year 9, our Coaches work with young people for up to 5 years, to develop their skills, confidence and aspirations, combining the power of asset-based coaching with workplace exposures. Our impact is proven. 81% of our 2025 FutureMe graduates are in further education, work or training, compared with 53.1% for the most similar national group.
