Domestic abuse is always unacceptable – and yet 22, 250 incidents were reported last year to West Yorkshire Police in Leeds alone and it is estimated that 1 in 4 people in England and Wales over the age of 16 will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime (Source: SafeLives). Domestic abuse goes beyond the physical, it also includes, verbal, emotional and economic abuse, as well as coercive control, and tech-facilitated harm, often leaving victim-survivors isolated & not knowing where to turn.

BCD is there at the point of crisis, providing immediate practical support with emergency accommodation, safety planning, and advocacy when navigating complex legal and statutory systems such as family courts and social services. Support continues through to recovery, working with individuals and families to understand their experiences and ensure they are empowered to make informed choices moving forward. 900+ individuals accessed our services last year, 88% of whom identified as female.
