We are seeking support for sanctuary seekers including refugees and asylum seekers in and around Elmbridge in Surrey. This includes ESOL classes, drop-in hubs and a high need casework service. We also work to bring the community together and promote community cohesion and understanding.

We are supporting over 300 displaced families and individuals in our local area, all of whom are in the UK because of war or persecution. Some have limited English language skills and little understanding of systems and processes in the UK. Some are struggling financially or with practical needs such as for furniture. Most are far from families and friends overseas, are in danger of isolation and suffer multiple challenges such as being survivors of domestic abuse or being in poor health.

We are helping our local displaced community with a number of practical problems, such as helping them with donated furniture, small financial grants, and understanding systems and processes in the UK. We are also helping with skills building, such as English language and digital literacy. However, less tangibly, but just as importantly, we are helping them with their emotional health and wellbeing, combating isolation, and bringing communities together for better mutual understanding.
