Winter is tough for families raising disabled or seriously ill children on the lowest incomes in the UK. Rising household bills for essentials like heating, food and clothing, coupled with the cost of disability, mean these families face additional, impossible choices. From our research, we know that 74% of families spend more on electricity as a result of their child’s needs and 75% can’t afford to replace or repair key white goods such as fridges or washing machines if they were to break.
This winter, with your help, Family Fund will help ease daily pressure for UK families raising disabled or seriously ill children on the lowest incomes, giving grants for essentials, from ovens to beds, technology and play items. Alongside this our services provide practical support, from finances and benefits to digital skills sessions and resources. We ease the strain on households and help improve families’ wellbeing.
