Restart exists to move the world away from our throwaway economy - making electronics work for people, for the planet, and for longer. We believe that every product should be repairable, and that repair and reuse should be accessible and affordable for everyone.

When our electronics stop working, most people want to repair rather than replace, but nearly 70% say they struggle to find affordable repair options. But the problem isn’t just access to repair. Products are often designed to be difficult to fix, spare parts are hard to access and local repair skills are being lost. Communities are leading the way, now policy and products need to catch up so repair becomes the norm.

We support and develop community repair initiatives (e.g. repair cafes & Fixing Factories), and test innovative projects to make repair cheaper and available to everyone. But we can only do so much within a system that's broken. So Restart campaigns for change, using the evidence we gather from our programmes and community to ensure that the benefits of repair and reuse are firmly on the radar of politicians, and we work to secure ambitious policy change for a thriving repair and reuse economy
