Disabled people face significant financial/ social barriers, making it challenging to participate in everyday life. Stats show that people with learning disabilities have fewer chances to socialise or take part in leisure activities, with 40% of disabled people unable to afford a week’s annual holiday, a factor exacerbated with the cost-of-living rise. Over half reported feeling lonely with figures rising to over 77% for those aged 18-34 in a survey conducted by Sense. We aim to tackle this.
Our current ‘Take a Break Project’ addresses the challenges directly by offering subsidised, affordable and inclusive opportunities, making these experiences a tangible reality for disabled people. By removing barriers, the ‘Take a Break Project’ ensures that disabled people can enjoy the same fun, exciting and enriching opportunities as their non-disabled peers. Since 2019, we have been providing day trips, workshops, training and holidays to our 2 caravans in North Wales at a subsided rate.
