The Alternative Learning Pathway aims to break down barriers to education, stability and opportunity in B&NES and Wiltshire. There are over 1 million youngsters not in education, employment or training (NEET's) in the U.K. and the problem is growing with younger children becoming disengaged, refusing school, truanting and becoming isolated and vulnerable. We hear of a 'lost generation', lack of jobs, and poor social mobility for those most in need.
The Alternative Learning Pathway is divided into three programs—Engage, Boost, and Advantage—that provide tailored support at different ages to rebuild confidence, skills, and progression opportunities. From age 9 we support youngster with key skills, mentoring and support to build confidence, like skills, social skills, creating more resilient youngsters, offering work experience, safe spaces, qualifications for the future and reengaging them into society for a brighter future.
