People with visible differences face stigma, staring, comments and judgement because of how they look. This can have a profound impact on confidence, self-esteem and mental wellbeing. In a recent survey, 94% of people with visible differences told us they experience low confidence and self-esteem, and around 40% of people accessing our services have experienced suicidal thoughts. Too many people face these challenges alone, without access to specialist support.
Changing Faces provides specialist emotional support, information and opportunities for connection to people living with visible differences. Through our Support and Information Line, online support groups, webinars, online forum, resources and volunteer-led peer support, we help people build confidence, reduce feelings of isolation and connect with others who understand their experiences. No one should face the challenges of living with a visible difference alone.
